Looking to change out my current single 12" subwoofer the JL 12W3V3. I'm looking for SQ with a minor hint of SPL, but more concerned with accuracy. I would be feeding the Subwoofer 350watts at 4ohm and 550 at 2ohm. Sealed box at 1.2fcu-ft.

Current Setup
Scan-Speak Ring Tweeters
Scan-Speak 10f's
Scan-Speak 7" Revs

Considering -
Image IDQ12 D4
Arc Audio Black 12 D4
SI BM MK IV
Scan-Speak 32w Rev
Peerless XXLS 12"

I think you should get the w6 if you can. I think most people who want a "hint" of bass are actually closet bassheads. The W6 has the ability to get loud when you need it to and in my opinion it also is a great SQ sub.

JBL W12gti. Don't let the looks put you off, it really does sound great on all kinds of music.

Most of these seem to spec for smaller sealed enclosures.

Flat response sounds dull and boring. It may win competitions, but it isn't fun. Why did I say that? It's much better to get as much clean bass as you can afford and turn it down, then it is to ask too much out of a lesser setup. I used the old IDQs and loved them, but I wouldn't have been happy with just one. If you're stuck on one sub, that enclosure, and that power, get the one with the most excursion.

I think that's debatable. I went from 2 idmax 12's in a big ported to 1 12 sealed, to 2 IDQ10s sealed, and now to 2 more "SQ" oriented sub's and it all because I just had way too much and it was too much to tame it. My current sub's aren't as loud as any of the other setups, but they are still plenty loud. I run them at maybe 25%

Have you looked into the illusion audio c12 yet? I'm running one in my Tahoe off 560 watts myself and it sounds very good. It is definitely an sq sub but can get louder than I care to listen to it. I bought mine used for $400 and I've seen a few others pop up in the classifieds.

The gtis are fantastic, I love mine.. And they can do everything, in, ported, ap, sealed, he'll they could play midbass if you could fit them in the doors. They're also very efficient and just sound good. And op, if you cant fit a gti you might want to look into stereo integrity's bm mkiv.. Phenomenal sq sub with a small box requirement and shallow mounting depth. Also not too much output

Grab a copy of WinISD and model several subs to get an idea of how they might perform. Also if you are changing the driver, you should consider changing the box too. I was looking to replace my 8" until I modeled it in WinISD and found that if I just ported my current box I get flat response down to 30Hz without ugly group delay past 40. My amp won't have to work as hard after the mod is done.

I have a new box coming that is custom made for my RAM 2500 that will fit under my rear seat on the passenger side. I've ran the IDQ's and for sure one of my favs and priced dirt cheap IMHO. However, pretty excited to hear the black since it seems to get rave reviews on here. I'm also dying to try that ScanSpeak 32w.
