I'm currently installing a full system in my Hilux. I've chosen to go with a single JL 13tw5, I got the box custom made in Australia. I've just test fitted and it's exact. There is only space for 2 amps, so you're going to want a DSP amp.

Like I said, I'm currently installing with what limited time I have everyday. It will most likely take me a while ☺. My components are as follows:

Alpine Halo 11 HU, Audiocontrol D6.1200, Audiocontrol LC1.800, Audiofrog GB60/GB15 for front, Morel Elate Ti MW6 (bandpass 30-300), JL 13tw5.

I'll post pics when I get it all sorted out

Here is my 13tw5. I've test fitted the back seats, and fits no issues.

If you want, maybe consider a 5 channel amp to 3 channel mode to power rear speakers and sub.

Or run audiofrog GB60, GB25, GB10 and GB215c passive crossover, just mount the mid and tweet right next to each other.

For me, I think 3 way isn't as impressive as 2 way if you don't know how to tune. So the question comes down to how good are you with a DSP?

I've got a 2019 hilux sr5 double cab. 3 way front and 10" behind back seat.
The front is,
Focal flax tweeters in factory sail locations,
Flax 6.5" in doors that have a Lot of sound deadening,
Scan speak 15m discovery midranges in custom kicks,
Focal P25FS shallow sub behind rear seat in an 18l ported box,
A pioneer prs-a900 amp under the front passenger seat powering the tweeters and midrange,
A focal pfx 5.1200 behind back seat for the midbass sub and rear speakers(focal factory fitment 6.5's),
Head unit is a Kenwood dmx9720xds,
Dsp is minidsp 8x12dl behind back seat.

There is very little room behind the rear seat. I can take some photos of anything if you want.

Looks like a good setup, especially the HU. Do you have iDatalink Maestro hooked up too? How did you seal the door holes? I don't have access to Butyl Rope where I am, not sure if there's another name for it....also there's no CCF or any install shop where I live.

Ah ok. I just got some insulation foam from the hardware store today, gonna try it out and see if it works.

OP: Have you considered using JL VXI amps? 8 channel with DSP so you can run full active.

So these are pics from my install, I ended up adding more dynamat than what you can see here. The panel just behind the rear bench headrest needs to be removed and treated with some kind of decoupler, I used 3M VHB double sided tape. After placing that panel and rear seat back on, I wedged rubber mat between the seat back and the panel to ensure there was no rattling.

For window resonance, I don't seem to have any at all, maybe because my window tint is super thick.

I found some rubber carpets at a local shop and made floor mats for additional sound deadening, seems to do the trick.

Now that my install is complete, I can honestly say I'm not wanting more. It sounds just how I imagined it would. The single 13TW5 can boogie, the 2 way active audiofrog gb setup is incredible and my amps run pretty cool. I may swap out the rear fill speakers to something more budget since I'm not using the Morels as they were intended (bandpass 500-2800).

Anyways, good luck with your install.

Forgot to mention. I have an auto, not sure if the manual transmission is any different, but there was a nice unused grommet behind the engine on the firewall to run my 1/0 AWG wire, then I ran it alongside the passenger side trims. Everything popped back in place like factory.

I know the pics aren't the greatest, but the six channel amp on the left is a DSP. Yes the pods and speaker rings are from Germany, I contacted him directly on WhatsApp from his website, but he does have the ebay site.

Yeah my car is one gen earlier, I stripped the entire car apart, didn't see any vents.

I have also seen this;
It all says fits 2015 and above The above one even says for the 12-inch JL. I wonder how. My installer said he tried all options.

I am not sure if 2015 and above is all same space behind the seat or something changed in bwn.

This is where I got my sub and box. These guys do really good work and I know they have a 13tw5 for your model year Hilux.

Do you have more pictures of your rear firewall? i see you have a box there labelled "CAN" or something?
i presume the 2021 version is similar to the other 2015+ models in terms of the amount of space there, so I do think there's a solution for you to go behind the seats.

This is my layout at the moment - excuse the mess, was waiting on some more cableties!

You want photos of my firewall where I've run my power cable?
