Tuning frequency for subs

If I use a subwoofer box modeling program to make a ported sub, how do you know what frequency to tune it to, or does most modeling software do that also?

the woofer itself will also help you dictate tuning... ifm ou have access to your woofers t/s parameters, look at "fs", resonant frequency... thats generally the lowest you want to tune your box, as the sub wont like playing notes lower then that spec...
