So something that bothers the heck out of me!!

I have a "Gap" in the sound in my left ear. I am trying to tune it out but cannot seem to get it. It bothers the hell out of me. I have noticed it on previous cars too. I cannot recall ever being able to get rid of it.

Right now I am experiencing it bad and am getting really frustrated trying to get rid of it. I am playing with my TA and phase and cannot seem to get rid of it. Its like there is something not meshing well at all. I dont recall having the issue when I was running just the stock premium system in my Jeep.

Its weird because it makes me feel like I have something in the ear but obviously there is nothing there.

Now I know that it is not hearing loss because I listen with my headphones and the gap is not there. I am tested frequently for hearing by the military and I am good to go.

So can someone that knows what I am experiencing and knows how to fix it please help me out here. I am about to have a tantrum like my 2 year old.(or get an attitude like my 15 year old)

I am running tweets in the factory location in the sails, mids in the kickpanels and midbass in the factory door locations. The mids and midbass is the same woofer (Boston acoustics Z6) but the doors are playing 63-400 and the kicks playing 400-3500.

I heard something kinda like what your describing once, in a car w/ horns. Moving my head next to the glass made it happen on that side. Does it change as your move your head around the cabin?

Josh
Yes it seems. I hope it is not the reflections off the window.

I cleaned my ears...lol...no seriously I got some Qtips and cleaned them.hahaha
I know it sounds crazy, but even after passing a Q-tip "inside" the ear, there could be a wax plug in there that is cutting out some of the sound.

I've been to the GP a couple times, to get 'er done and he washed out a bunch of yuck, it was awesome...

then I learned how to do incremental ear wax removal using the drops so I don't have to go to the doctor anymore for that.

easiest way is to buy the Murine Ear Drops box, with the blue bulb included.

follow the directions.

it is a multi-day process, as you only want to use the peroxide drops once a day, and each application only melts away a portion of a good sized plug.

the reason you do it only once a day, is that it is irritating to the soft skin in the ear, and if you do it too often it will cause pain.

you keep washing it out, until no more bubbling bits come out with the douche water.

Currently laying sideways with a 50/50 mix of water and peroxide bubbling in my ear.... used a clean childrens tylenol syringe.

it does tickle.

the Murine peroxide, is not hydrogen.

it's something else, I think it's also at a more concentrated level than 3% hydrogen, diluted 50/50.

but if it works, I guess?

the main thing I paid the Murine price for, is to get some reasonably sterile solution so I didn't get an infection.

if the regular drug store peroxide is just as good, that would be much cheaper.

Followed the instructions here and it made a very big difference.

On a side note I have also achieved the "beyond the windows " effect .

I think part of my issue is the port VS sub acoustic phase... might have to redesign or modify my enclosure a little. Hell I might even just go back to a sealed enclosure

I am going to rest a bit and redo the procedure again onn a different preset and see if I can get it to sound even better.

Again, still have a bit of that gap but it is way better.

As a follow up....

I seem to have fixed the issue and am on to the next.

I did it by following this threads instructions a few times and it made a world of difference. I also played with my crossover points and slopes. It has taken a while to get to where I am and I am sure I have a long way to get to total musical bliss in my jeep. :D
