similar, but damn is it deep. I don't know that I can fit this. Also, will these really play down to 1.5k as suggested? Is that too low to cross them over? I was going to try using my ESX Q60.4 to go active, but the crossover stops at 1.5k.

not really. If you already know what you'll keep the x-over at, I don't see anything wrong with making a passive. Active simply allows you to 'actively' change things. If you don't need that ability with a certain driver, then you don't need it.

Resistors get hot and are used to attenuate speakers { in some instances }, a capacitor of the correct size for the ohmage of your driver will serve as a highpass filter .

An inductor [ or coil ]serves as a lowpass filter ]

People who don't put a cap on their positive wire have been known to damage their tweeters.
