i have an alpine cda-7894 and i love it, its old and the knob every once in a while cuts off the radio. if i had the parts, how hard is it to do and has someone done it

i didn't see a thread for this

There are other sites more into repair, but anyway you can check some things first like how is it connected inside is a solder bad? If you verify it is the knob try cleaning with spray (the actual pot with spray). After that you can try pacparts/etc if it is available, or you can look for another one used you can take the part out of. Also depends on if you can get it apart and replace it, some parts are difficult if you are not used to doing that stuff and have right tools....some are easy.

I'm not familiar with the 7894, is it a detachable face unit?? If so, try cleaning the faceplate contacts first with a pencil eraser..

If not, the electronics cleaner as mentioned above, you WILL have to remove the knob to do this though...

It could be bad solder...

work in that order and see what happens..

Thanks and yep, ALWAYS check a ribbon, if it's involved...
