Ok, so since I broke the tweeters that came with my Type X comp set (don't ask, it was really dumb) and now I have a pair of Vifa XT25 tweeters, I know they'll work fairly well with my passive x-overs but I don't want 'fairly well' I want it to be perfect so obviously active is a better choice.

I've got the Vifa XT25 tweets, last years Type X mids (the bluer cone) and an LP 2.2HV that I'm using currently (but might switch it over as a sub amp eventually deppending on what I can find to replace it).

What are my options and am I going to need a 2nd amp for the tweeters? I'm still confused as to how this works (if you couldn't tell)

Thanks in advance guys!

You'll need 4 channel's of amplification to drive the 4 speakers. Weather it be a 4 channel, two 2 channels, a 5 channel for the speakers and the subs or a 6 channel. You'll also need some sort of processing with 3 way crossovers. What kind of headunit do you have?

either buy a deck with actives or an amp.
I have an older alpine 4 channel with nice crossovers.
Works very well!

I ended up replacing that amp with an alpine 9813.
the crossovers rule.. I think the adjustable slopes are the key to getting great results.

I plan to buy a seperate x-over. I'm not replacing my HU with anything other than a CD500, CD700II or a Clarion Pro Audio unit...(I'm picky)

So far, the Audio control DXS is looking like a good option.

How much does a DXS sell for?

You can find used DRZ9255's in the ~600 price range.

A new one is about 800.

Have you considered the DEH-P860MP? Has 3 way crossovers and you can find them new under 300.

Diamond D6 amps would do the trick too...
Yup... that would be my recommendation since they have all the xOvers you'll need built in...

Email me.. I just did an active install with all D6 amps. Plus, I can put you in touch with a local authorized dealer with unbelievable prices... If I do another car, it will have D6 amps in it...

I like the suggestion of the D6 amps...that might do the trick.

Well, I emailed you with no response so....I'm still waiting home dog.

Where is the shop located? I've got a few days off next week I might be able to run up there and talk to him in person.

I didn't know the D6's could bandpass? Their site sucks it only says hi and lo pass and I can't download the manual.
