Ok, continuing with my pattern of noob threads, I have used the search function but have obviously missed how to deal with this.

How does one do the crossover thing? How do they work? I have been recommended to cross at 3-6kHz. I have looked and although I can buy components from places like Solen, I am beginning to suspect that you all do them yourselves.
I am looking to link a pair of Vifa xt25 with some ScanSpeak Illuminator 18s. I'll now duck.

What he said plus the generally accepted way to do crossover work for most of DIYMA is with ACTIVE crossover processors and whatnot, not a passive crossover.

You need to make sure the crossover has a clear case. Nothing else is important. If you want the most transparent-sounding components, they must have clear cases. Think Crystal Pepsi and clear deodorant.
