What Finish or Color Would You Recommend To Get This To Match The Surrounding Dash

The finish is currently SEM texture coating, SEM Satin Black ColorCoat and SEM Low Luster Clear.

Something doesn’t look right about it and I think it needs to be more “matte”, but I SEM doesn’t offer anything less shiny in its ColorCoat line than the Low Luster Clear I used.

Maybe a different shade of black (Landau?) is what I need?

Maybe Flexible Matte Clear from a different manufacturer?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Here’s the OEM Toyota speaker grill (not completely snapped in for ease of removal). My grill doesn’t necessarily need to match this, but it needs to “work” with the surrounding area

Here’s my grill. It will have the Audiofrog GS40 mesh screen installed over the circular opening

Personally, I would respray black and leave out the clear... I haven't seen a clear that doesn't have too much sheen to match a flat black. IMHO

Looks great, btw!

I tried a different texture spray distance with just a bit of knock down with 400 grit and it really changed the look. This also has no clear on it, just SEM Satin Black. I also have a can of SEM Landau black being shipped which I may do some testing with before I do my final install.

Pictures are tough but:

Is there a matt black available... Satin will be too shiny. Sorry, I didn't notice you said "satin black" in your first post. You definitely want matt...

Edit: Is it shiny, the pics look shiny??

Just found this “Limo Flat Black” from SEM’s Classic Coat line.

Classic Coat is a line of OEM matched aerosols for renewing or restoring leather and vinyl.”

I’m going to be over $100 in spray paint on these damn things pretty quick :D

Yikes! That's why I don't use SEM... I usually find perfect matches with a little trial and error in the $7.99 per can range. ;) :p

I'm sure SEM is excellent stuff, but I can get the same results with my own ghetto style. Lol
Of course it's not only about the means to an end, but also the process and things we learn along the way. So that makes it all worth it.
