Hello everyone,

I am a new member to this board, very intrested in doing a DIY setup in the near future. With that in mind, there's alot of information on the board here that's hard for a newbie to completely take in. I currently have a decent complete system in my car, so i'm not quite sure what is the "weakest link".

I recently purchased a used IS300, so i will be uninstalling my current system this weekend and preping a new install on my new car. Thus i want to take this opportunity to fix any major weaknesses in my current system.

Current System:
Nakamichi CD400 Headunit
Focal K2 Power 165 KP - Front Stage
Infinity Perfect 12" - Subwoofer
Diamond D7056 Amplifier (50x6)

I also have some cheap infinity 6x9's in the back. All speakers are being powered by my D7 amp.

I feel that my subwoofer is currently the weakest link in my setup, being almost 6 years old since i purchased it. Most of the new subs i'm looking into, and intrested in require quite a hefty amount of power. So i'm considering buying a second amp. (maybe another D7 off ebay, 600x1....)
Really intrested in the seas lotus, diamond tdx/d9, and idmax.

Also, the woofer on the focal kp's kinda suck compared to the old utopias and the k3p's.... after reading a review on the TN51 w/seas, i'm really considering poping a pair of seas in replacement to work with my TN52's....

Right now, my mind is just filled with many possibilities, but i'm not sure which upgrade would be the most benefical to my system.

Please, any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Regards

Wire the Focals active. Bridge the rear 4 channels to power the mids, and run the front 2 channels to power the tweets. You don't need an exspensive D7 for sub(s) duty. The D5600.2 will work great for a pair of Peerless XXLS 12" subs.

how would i set (percisely) the right crossover points on my amp. The adjustment knob feels unaccurate to get to a desired frequency.

Also, from the review on the TN51 w/ seas woofer, it was apparant that the Focal tweeters sound best off focal crossovers...?
