I'm curious what simple things you guys to do add that "perfectionist" touch to your installations. I recently discovered the wonders of heat shrink....and most importantly a butane torch

heat shrinking wires with color cordination, labeling the wire then wrapping the wire with clear heat shrink.

color cordinated wires in general

expandable sleeving on wires

nice fancy terminations on wires, (nice ring terminals / ground blocks / power adapters, banana plugs, etc.....

nicely secured wiring with wire clamps evenly spaced and adequately sized.

Basically any attention to detail will serve to be beneficial in the end.

+1 on what he said

I would also like to say that in my installs I try to make everything retain a stock/factory look. I also like to keep everything very stealthy. I to make sure I have hidden wires everywhere even on amp boards. I also try to keep things simple and not to flashy. I think a simple install layout when properly done looks just as nice as some of the over the top installs. IMO

access and serviceability

wire control

cosmetic integration (trimpanels, etc)

EFFICIENT USE OF SPACE.

visual flow of components (when visible)

"cleverness" factor.

Does not impinge upon usability of vehicle

basically attention to detail as indicated above.
