dynaudio suggest them for all their speakers and infact gives the schematic

between that and a local shop owner who swears passives posses magical properties i havent seen that advise

is there any real advantage

When you choose the values in a passive crossover, you pick them based on the impedance of the driver. But most drivers have an impedance that varies with frequency so your crossover won't work properly unless you "correct" for that. With active crossover's it's not necessary, since the crossover is before the amps and never sees the driver.

In a car, I don't know if it's really necessary though. Alot of the times you have such a horrible in-car response that your crossover isn't anywhere near accurate anyways.

ther is justr a local dealer that is real good at talking me into passives

thinks they have tons of advantages

i cant think of one other than attenuating resonances

i think hes just trying to sell you junk..

the only advantages is that theyre easier to install.

after buying good speakers, applying deadening, etc is the next step an equalizer and RTA equipment ? shouldn't this correct all the dips and highs in the FR ?

I'd say you could equalize by using your ears just as well as by measuring, although it will take more time and experience.
