Im still learning when it comes to tuning. Im sure it's going to be an ongoing thing. I think i may have set my self up for failure with my current set up. i have a 3 way setup up front, components in the back and 2 subs. i have th front stage going to a AC Matrix before going to the Amp. The rear components and Subs are going straight from the HU to Amps.

My question is if the way i have things wired the reason why my Subs aren't a prominent in my music? I feel that 750W should be sufficient enough to get a real good umph but i just don't feel it

please help guys. thanks!

Because with 3 ways up front, components in the back, 2 subs, and in the process of "still learning" you have likely created a frequency nightmare. Even if the subs are playing as they should you'd never know with all the other stuff going on.

If you're in Modesto, then there are some good tuners not too far from you. If you can make a trip to Vacaville or San Jose, I know a few people that might be willing to help you. With a system as complicated as yours, it will be very difficult to diagnose over the internet. You will greatly benefit from some face-time with someone knowledgeable.

There is nothing inherently wrong with your setup as long as you have the ability to tweak frequency response (EQ) and balance the driver levels against one another.

If you are using an Audio Control Matrix line-driver for the fronts then I wonder if you are using the factory head unit? If so, then you *may* need a bass processor for the sub amp to get the low freqs out of the factory HU.

What model/make HU are you using? What model/year car? Where is the sub enclusure mounted and what are the specs?

Thank guys for the help so far. I guess i should have been a little more detailed about what i have.

to clarify, no, i don't use Stock HU.
I have a Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD.

the front channels are going trough an Audio Control Matrix and split up to the the 6 out channels for the amps that power the tweeters, mids, and mid bass.

the rear channels go to the amp that powers the rear Channels (passive X-Over on rears)

the Sub Channel(s) go to Amp powering the two subs.

Amps are

JL SlashV2 300/4 (2)
JL 750HD

I'm doing X-overs with a mix of HU and Amp HiPass and LoPass filters.

hope this answers your questions and can help you guys help me...

again, THANKS!!

So your subs play music, but not at a volume you feel is sufficient or what you expected? Is that Correct?

What size Subs? What kind of Car/Truck/Van?

It sounds like you have Everything hooked up correctly, assuming that your subs "make noise" while the radio is on. If they don't than that would be a different issue.

But assuming your subs do "make noise" while the radio is on, perhaps you have "expected" too much from your subs? For example, you may be driving a 1988 Chevy Suburban and you have 2 8in Subs, they likely aren't going to "hit as hard" as those same subs in a Single Cab Truck. So perhaps you need Larger Subs? Generally (depending on the application) larger subs = More Output.

I drive a 08 Jetta. the 2 JL 10W6 are facing to the rear of the car away fro the cabin.
after thinking through that may be part of the issue.
Also I think that the channels for the midbass on the Matrix up too much. I just haven't had the chance to tweek anything.

a little back story....
What got me to reconsider my set up and how the soud isn't quite what I have always hoped for is that I heard a car with a bass setup similar to mine. kind of. this guy has 2 8W7 powered by a JL HD1200/1

I suppose I just feel that 2 10"s should be louder than 2 8"s...
