1200w going to the components... wow... how many sets is that? 20?ok guys i know what im talking about it is a dual setup 2 270 amp alts it will power 2 kinetik batts, 6400 watts of sub amps and 1200watts in componets the sub will be installed a month after comps i just wanted to know if it would hurt anything to have that much power with so little use of it at first
No.Hey I plan on 1200W to my components (active). Is there something wrong with that?

To answer your question...
The answers given previously regarding "pulling" current is the one you should be reading.
You can have a 10,000 AMP alternator, but if the system demands 10 AMPS, then you get 10 AMPS.
The only thing I could think of to cause harm is the parasitic loss of uselessly spinning alternators. Not that you'll be worrying about gas mileage with alternators like that, nor horsepower. Right?
