Will pay good for remote tuning help/questions answered

Hey all, to keep a long story short my last truck had a Dayton DSP and a forum member helped tune it. While I understand most of the concepts it was still confusing.

Fast forward and I just received a plug and play kit with a Arc Audio PS8 pro. I accidentally reset to default factory settings so whatever the company that built my rack set is gone.

Im not looking for a full blown tune, but if anyone is willing to help me establish some base lines and answer a bunch of questions, I’m willing to compensate very fair for your time.

My questions are probably novice for the majority but I’m struggling to understand some stuff even with videos and manuals. If you’re interested, I ask for an hour or two on the phone and again I’ll pay good. Let me know, thanks.

Would the person that originally set it up for you have a copy of the tune saved? I wish I could help you. The only person I know to recommend is Nick at Vanguard Automotive. I’m sure he has a long list of folks already scheduled though.

Im not sure, they set a few things but said we would refine over the phone next week. It’s soundsgoodstereo who built It. They’ve been fantastic, I just feel like a moron messing with it when I should have waited.

Heres what I was dealing with for context, sorry but long read.

When I finished install, I was extremely overwhelmed with sound volume. Took around 25/30 to get decent volume and sub was barely showing. This is same gear as last truck but better amps. I understand the DSP was set as much as it could before a real session but I wanted to play around.

Then things felt weird, when I fade factory HU full front the front plays, full rear and the front plays.

Even with DSP reset to factory I assumed I’d be running whatever the amps were physically set to, but volume is still extremely weak and only sounds like front stage.

I just have so many questions and I’m worried I’ll blow tweeters if I mess around more and screw up cross overs or something.

A word of caution: If you have active tweet x-overs via your DSP - be careful!
Your best bet would be to just wait for the shop to tune it for you, I can guide you through the ps8 software, but you’ll have to know everything about how the system is setup.

This is the setup

look up the CAT BUG guide it will get you started in the right direction
SGS should be able to send you the file again that you can load onto your DSP.

@flynavy812, where are you located ? i ask because i live very close to an (812) area code. just curious......
<----- idiot

Barring that, here's a link to the CAT-BUG (tuning guide):

Good luck! :)

I’ll reach out to them for sure, here’s my big question though. If SGS tuned amps physically and dropped the partial tune on the DSP… why is it when I reset it on accident, the volume is extremely week out of the system? I hear mainly tweeters and maybe mid bass very very faintly. Am I wrong to assume with DSP reset I’m defaulting to basically whatever the amps are tuned to?

I could be totally wrong but all that will be controlled with the tune they loaded into the DSP.

You may have mentioned but did you have good volume before you messed with the DSP's settings? As in as soon as the system was installed straight from sounds good stereo?

Unless you changed the amp settings, the only thing that has changed is the DSP settings, in which case restoring those settings should do the trick. Perhaps I'm missing something...?

It was much louder, but still no where near how my last system sounded (same gear, less powerful amps) so I believe they left it tamed until I could remotely tweak it with them.

Im just confused with the software… what would cause no sub and barely any mid bass? It’s obviously advanced software. Even after reading and watching videos I don’t even know where to begin. I’m probably best off waiting until Wednesday when I get on the phone with them.

Chances are they set it that way on purpose so people don’t screw anything up before they can finish the tune. Some people just have to touch things they shouldn’t…as you learned. And at this point if you wiped the tune completely don’t even turn it on…you’ll likely kill your tweeters in short order.
Contact SGS and have them send you their base tune to reload into the processor then leave it alone until you get back with them.

Fair enough. I’ll add it to the lessons learned.
