Hey guys, so I just upgraded my front Morel Virtus 6.5" midbass drivers to the Elate 8 3/4" drivers. Now I am able to play comfortable down to 25hz with a 24/db slope. The way I have my TCR setup, I have my cabin speakers delayed more than my subwoofer, so any overlapping frequencies tend to resonate. The problem here, is that the resonance tends to take a hit on SQ and just doesn't sound as clean. I have a Morel Ultimo 124 (1000 Watts), the only issue now is that I don't know where I should set my X' Over. I have set it at 25hz for both the Elate 8 3/4" drivers and the Ultimo, but I wonder if that's way too low for the subwoofer and I'm afraid its being underutilized. I have tried setting the subwoofer at 40hz and the Elate 8 3/4" at 25hz, but I get an undesirable resonance. I have also tried setting the X'over higher at around 31hz, 36hz, and 40hz. And the effect is interesting, but I wonder if I'm under utilizing the 8 3/4" drivers. When dealing with drivers that CAN perform, what is the best method for setting your midbass/sub X'over frequency?

Set xover in the 40-50hz zone. Try setting the mid on a 24db slope and the sub on a 36db slope.

You may find that your vehicle has a natural resonance frequency in the bass. In our Honda Odyssey, that is around 45Hz with the sub in the center, between the front seats. No matter what sub driver I use, there is a strong peak at 45Hz.

Find out where the peak occurs in your setup and set your Xover points around it, or carefully EQ.
