re: ZR Labs Extravagance Midwoofer & Tweeter

OMG…those are BEAUTIFUL….the parameters and graphs look REALLY nice too. The tweeter, withit's built in rotation after mounting, is REALLY nice.

Never heard of ZR before….please advise approximately how much those set you back and where you bought them??

Thanks.

Seafish - love the comments. Pretty much sums up how I feel too. ;)

There's a few variables, such as currency conversion rate, shipping, PayPal fees, and a significant discount to be had if you explore your options, but ballpark is about 5 thou.

SkizR - yeah, lol

Casey - thx man. '14 Raptor. When the time comes, I'll be asking for everyone's thoughts on the build. Get some feedback and hopefully generate some outstanding ideas that will be used in this project. :)

SEAS is an insult now days,
Hard to find 2 drivers with identical measurements...

Zvone has been fixing and modifying drivers for 25+ years and 10 + yrs ago came up with designs that mimicked all of them. Spilit cone, High Power Neo, Center Motor structure. And is pushing to make it sound like the instrument.

sundownz - so true!

Electrodynamic - heck yeah! The box could be mistaken for a jewelry box. The bottom of it has felt to keep from scratching the surface it is sitting on. Every detail has been thoroughly thought through and defines excellence in execution. The white gloves sent it over the top and I'm stoked they came with them or I'd have been an over zealous idiot and covered them in oily fingerprints. :D

xxx_busa - Mark, really appreciate everything brotha. You're an honorable guy. And thanks for the kind words.

Architect7 - great point!

win1 - thanks man!

On a side note, Zvone has gracefully agreed to design some mid-ranges for me in his Extravagance line. I will be putting a pair in my pillars and a pair in the rear doors for my rear fill. They should be designed and completed in roughly six months. Really looking forward to seeing the specs and visuals. You guys will be in on the loop as this progresses.

Lastly I'm kicking around either leaving my Illusion c12xl's stock, having Zvone modify them, or having him build superior 12" neo's from scratch. Still undecided..............

I really appreciate everyone's input. :) When this project is complete, I'll go to a few events and for anyone who has put input, made suggestions, commented, or is flat out curious, I'll be happy to give you some private time to spin a few of your favorite songs and experience the end result. :)

Excellent decision having them make you a set for rear fill. I use 3"s in my f250 for rear fill and they're perfect. Looking forward to your build log!
Thx man!

I've done high-end installs in the past and listened to the advice that rear-fill doesn't matter much when it comes to quality. So I followed that advice and just did some mid/low priced rear fill. It bugged me. A lot. I always wondered about how much better it might've sounded had I done the same quality in the rear that I did in the front. So with this install, my paying a premium for the same quality in the rear might be felt a waste to most people here. But in the event that there's no difference, I won't be left wondering "what if."

And that really the premise on this entire build. To leave no "what if's". To do it once and never look back. ;)

Amps are next and being on the priciest side, I'm not looking forward to getting them. Once I do though, my build log will be quick to follow. :)

Now I gotta know, what are you going with for amps?
2x Brax MX2B for subs
2x Brax MX4B for mids/highs

or

2x Brax MX2B for subs
4x Sinfoni Prodigio mids/highs

Completely on the fence. One day I wake up knowing option 1 is the best, the next day I wake up, option 2 is the best.

Option 2 will create the most difficulty with heat/installation/price, but it achieves the sound signature I would prefer.

Not sure what to do...

Sir, Option #2 would be INSANELY GREAT...

My system has a single Prodigio and it drives the midbasses fantastically.... FOUR would be unreal !!!

my $.02 worth
