Well for the 2nd time since starting my car audio journey I have switched cars before really starting my build.

My new to me car is a 2013 Audi S5. I plan on keeping this one for a while ;)

The faftory audio system is; NON NAV, NON B&O, NON MOST Network,Copper from the Factory HU back to the factory Amp in the trunk, factory tweeters in the dash windshield corners, mid in center of dash, 8" woofers in lower doors, mid of some type and tweeters in the sides for the rear seats, and a "sub" on the rear deck)

I have the following in hand
JL FIX 82 to clean up the Factory Audio Signal
JL TWK 88 for DSP
Raspbery PI feeding into the TWK via digital to play FLAC audio, controlled by 8" tablet (will be on a removable bracket in the dash )
this will feed a JL HP 900/5
I will be forgoing the center channel, and rear channels.
front stage will consist of the following on each side
SB Acoustics SB17NRXC35-4 in place of the 8", mainly due to the shallow mount depth
SEAS Prestige 27TFFNC/G (H1396) in the door sails (this frees up the dash corners for mids if I want to go to a 3 way setup in the future)

IDMAX 10 d2v4, I will try it IB on the rear deck first, if this doesn't work then I will have to play with other ideas.

The S5 is much quieter in side vs the A5 but there is more exhaust noise, so I will need to add some deadening to the trunk for sure.

I will upload some pics of the car.

Well Well Well

It turns out my thought that I floated out here in my old build thread will work perfectly :)

I was looking on an Audi Forum today and found someone who found the pre-amp feeds from the Factory HU to the Factory Amp, he was able to snip these, and bring them into his upgraded auto system (he brought them into a cleansweep, I'm assuming this is he DSP but I posted asking for sure)

For the fellow Audi heads on here that don't have NAV here is a link to the post.

I'm hoping to be able to start my build this weekend, depends on what the SO puts on my honey do list for the weekend :p

Well I am going to start my build tomorrow YAY!

I pulled the passenger door off tonight to pull the factory speaker so I could use it as a template for cutting mounting rings.... I was in for a bit of a shock, the front window guide comes down just off center in the speaker hole... With a 3/4" ring I only have just over 2.5" of clearance, if I create a 1.5" ring the SB17MFC35-4 speakers will just fit depth wise BUT the surround appears it will hit the door card on full extension :-(

So it looks like I will be upgrading to Stereo Integrity tm65 mkII speakers due to their mounting depth of only 2.4"

I had to share the first pic on my new build. So I wasnt happy with the idmax 10 so tonight I decided to upgrade...

The new woofer has a weird vibration when you touch it though sounds kinda like a rattling diesel ;) purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

No I was pulling the idmax out to bring with to my brothers house tomorrow so we can test the mdf ring we are making to mount it.

Well it turns out today was Mr Murphys day to point at me and laugh

Started out the day not feeling well and ended up getting to my brothers about half an hour late, but he had a horrid day yesterday (family bike ride that ended in a 7 mile ride in pouring rain with an 10 yo) so he was still sleeping when I got there...

We couldn't find his circle jig for his router so after hunting for a while we gave up and made a new one... 3 hours later I left with 4 speaker rings, 2 mdf for the sub, and 2 hdpe for front speakers...

Got home and started my plans for the day...
Started with pulling the rear deck off, removed the factory sub, and went to test the Idmax in the rear deck BUT Mr Murphy started laughing, first I found out a critter had been nesting in some foam insulation by the rear deck, then the sub was too big to even fit into the rear deck

So 2 mdf rings out the window lol

Put the rear deck back together and moved on to wiring the TWK and amp.

Everything turned out good, nothing is completed, but decent for now.

And now Mr Murphy reared his ugly head again!
After I extricated my replacement vibrating woofer from the old sealed box I put the Idmax back in, on the last flipping screw the screwdriver slipped and punched through the surround on the woofer grrrr I'm going to try gluing the rip/hole, but need to get proper glue tomorrow.

Apparently the person on the Audi forum was mistaken on the colors of the wires coming from the HU (or the colors were different on my car, year etc), I ended up with the front left speakers play the FL signal and the FR speaker playing the LR signal... So I need to play with the others wires coming from the HU to figure out what pair I need instead of the ones I have going to the LF speaker.

So maybe tomorrow evening I will play with the other 2 pairs from the HU and figure out what pair I need.

Well apparently I am a moron, I went and checked, I connected the pair for RL instead of the ones for FR corrected and I have stereo again. I will create a program for the TWK tonight to help protect the factory speakers untill I order and install the tm65 mkIIs
