So… where to begin…

As it works with some automotive manufacturers it adopts the standards of DIN EN ISO 9001: 2015 and DIN EN ISO 14001: 2015 for all products as that is easier than having a standard for German and other car manufacturers and then a different one for its own brands

company itself has a very strict regulation, all the amps and dsps made in Germany are traceable… down to each individual part…

when they say they have hand sorted output ICs in Brax they aren’t lying, every transistor is hand sorted and measured, there is then a draw for lots which are then put together and made into individual amps so the characteristics are then the same, literally hundreds of drawers with transistors matched to three decimal places 😮 Brax are literally hand put together by a guy in a room that only has Brax parts in… really cool to see how they have made the mx4 pro, my gx2400 and all manner of other Brax amps

the caps are very special in Brax with 8 contacts to the dielectric roll inside not two like most caps, it makes for very special one of a kind very low internal resistance caps from what I recall Julian saying, by that point i

the Audio precision apx515 they use for measuring everything except Brax dsps and the rx2 pro are all over the place… the Brax get treated to the apx555 and even then the rx2pro is almost as clean as the 555 measuring itself 😮

the batch of tests each Brax amp and Dsp goes through is huge, and in the Brax room there is a series of folders with every Brax test report ever made in, literally per serial number, so if it ever goes wrong for the original owner the device can be repaired with components perfectly matched to original spec… I never ever saw one measurement be failed and often beaten by a good amount

even a simple match amplifier would be put through a barrage of tests to confirm it’s made to a standard

little known fact… look at your board in your atf product and you will find a QR code… it’s traceable to component level, what batches of what component, who made it, who performed its testing, QR codes are literally the dna of the device

the serial number on the label can be lost… the QR code cannot!

the assembly and testing room…

I also met the guy who hand builds prototypes… amazing placement of components which are grain of sand small and flows them to produce magic items, lots of rev1-6 of lots of current dsps and amps we all know and love! No pictures of his desk as there were a few new things that were being prepped

Because of all the standards above this is why it can take years to fully develop a product from concept to bringing it to market… amazing the amount of work required to bring a simple amp or whatever to market… 🤯

There was also a purpose to my trip, but that’s for another time…

mean while… at one time they were making a giant lump of home audio stereo power amp…

but then the giant transformers got kyboshed by eu laws and so now there is an ongoing project with the p6 Dsp ultimate

It’s actually a supported rotary encoder that was from the first gen bmw idrive

it’s just as beautiful as a Brax mx4 pro and similar in its design

This is the p6 Dsp ultimate home audio effort…

and some floorstanders… the split taller set weigh 120kg each and are cut from a block of real slate like they use for pool tables… but thicker and has excellent natural freedom from resonances due to the way slate is formed in different thickness layers with earth in the middle

And the view in the current training room

The current print farm with Asa and Bambu labs X1 carbon printers

Interestingly the heat generated by the printers isn’t wasted, it is sucked into a giant heat exchanger and then used in part to heat the main building, there is also a massive solar array and also a giant heat pump fitted to the new building which is part warehouse, it also houses the new training centre to be, the pc tool and prototyping guys plus a load more rooms that all envelope car audio fun times! 😎

So a silly fact you likely won’t know… all amps have the audio precision testing sheets saved and catalogued

If I break my Brax amp and I’m the original owner and it’s 15 or 20yrs old I can then send it in and it gets fixed under the lifetime warranty on all Brax products… how cool is that 😎 they can also trace what semiconductors were fitted so they can be replaced with the exact same models and spec

As a member of Team Brax, I`ve sent all my amps to ATF a few years ago, they checked them all, replaced some parts that needed to be changed and send them back without me paying for anything - not even transport from ATF to my doorstep. Great customer service and support, probably among the best there is. IMHO, any equipment is only worth as much as their service and support is, and here this cant be any better...hands down!
