Diamond Audio HXP vs JL W7

Overview: I have 3 JLW7-10’s (not AE edition) running on 3 JL HD750.1 amps. One of the subs is starting to kick the bucket. I’m contemplating rebuilding the half blown speaker however, this presents an opportunity to do something different.
I have experience with the Diamond Audio TDX when they were released a while ago. The sound was amazing as I recall.

I don’t see much support for the current Diamond Audio line. Does anyone here have experience with the new HXP line compared to the W7? If so, what are your thoughts?

Further information: the current setup runs in a sealed box.I do not want ported.

DO NOT respond if you are simply a JL fanboy. Yes I know they are great, that’s why I bought 3 of them.

I appreciate your words Kountz. But can you provide more context? Do you have a personal experience to share? I definitely havent heard much from them since the D6 D9 days. I was into Diamond when the Mac Daddy subs were being made, lol. That doesnt mean they are complete **** though, ya know? From what I can see the HXP hasn't strayed far from its TDX roots. Your feedback is appreciated.

I kind of agree with Kountz...

The W7 is proven. It's a great sub, it has been great since day one, and continues to be great.

The Diamond sub is a gamble. It may be great, like Diamond's golden age, or it could be pretty junky like the stuff that they were selling for while there. If it were my money I'd spend it on the sub that I was confident in. Take the chance on the Diamond if you want, or buy a proven performer and be done.

Maybe Diamond has stepped things up, but even if they have, it's tough to beat the W7.

There isn't a whole lot that you can do with a subwoofer to make it better than the W7 (this isn't necessarily a plug for the W7, it's more a statement about how basic subwoofer frequencies are, and that the margin between a good sub, and a great sub is very small) give me enough displacement and I'd take multiple Pyles over a W7, in a theoretical situation. I can't imagine the Diamond being worth the gamble. At best, it's a tiny bit "better" (not the best word to use) than the W7, but realistically it's a risk, and I sure as hell wouldn't spend that kind of money on a gamble. You could almost get 2 Acoustic Elegance SBP 15's for that money, and a pair of those would run circles around a single W7.

Back when I had my 2011 Tacoma extended cab, I took out the rear seats and made a box for two 12" D6's with a D6 1000.1 wired to two ohms, along with a pair of H600a's hooked up to a D6 600/4 with a bridged output at four ohms. That system was a beast, and while I don't have the subs anymore, I still have both amps and the component set. Long story short, if they are anything like the H600's, you can't go wrong!
