So I'm planning on building custom RCA cables for my next build and a lot of the research I do comes up with contradicting results.
First of all on the drain wire for the shield some posts say it should be soldered to the rca ground on both sides, other posts say it should be soldered on one side but left open on the other (I cant see how that would do anything ) and other posts (which make sense) say it should be grounded to the amp chassis at one end and the stereo chassis at another. I'm at a loss here so for those with cable experience that would be helpful
Next question is twisted pair vs shielding. I would like to do both but I can't find a good wire (250ft for around 100 or less) that has both so between the two. Which is better. Any wire suggestions would be awesome.
Lastly is Guage really that big of a deal on rca cables or does thicker cable just take punishment longer (I'm thinking it just makes the cable a bit stronger physically 22awg seems plenty)
