DM 810 setup question

Hey all, I am new to the scene so I have went down this neverending rabbit hole of car audio trying to educate myself as best I can. So I have a new active build Im working on. Im keeping the factory radio in my 2019 GLI and Im running a DM810 off the deck and then two skar rp150.4s and a rp2000 mono. My question, as this is my first time running a DSP. I set my input gains to there max as that is the instructions from Audio Control. When setting the gains on my amps Im measuring with a scope. Using 1000k and 40k tones. My deck is at 28 of 30. Unclipped. On the mono I barely have to trun gain to reach the desired max rms. How would I know if I was sending the amps too hot of a signal or doing something wrong from DSP? I measured the RCAs output from DSP and it was at 4+ volts but when connecting to mono and then hooking the scope to that I am already at 40volts with no gain off the 40hz tone. Is that normal? Please help

Yes it’s normal, you don’t need any particular gain to get full power from an amp, you match the gain to the input signal, as you have plenty of input signal you don’t need much gain

why are you using a 40k tone? I’m hoping it’s a typo and you are using a 40hz tone not 40khz

Yes 40hz im sorry. Typo*. So overall, is it a good thing that Im able to set my gains so low to achieve full power? Im just unfamiliar with setting the input gains on the dsp and moving forward from there.. audio control really does not go in depth about the product so lots of questions...🙄

It’s not good or bad... it’s a system setting that is how it needs to be in your system with your signal and amplifier... an amp making full power draws the same current whether it has 0.5v and higher gain or 4v and lower gain... it doesn’t care either way, it’s not better or worse

With tweeters and less so for mids having a low gain makes for a better noise floor, in that sense you would have the gains as low as possible if you could

Also, before I set my amp gains, I used the auto feature on the dm810 to flatten the frequency before i adjusted gain. I know if it were an aftermarket HU I would set the gains with the deck flat so I assumed I would treat the processor the same way. Is that correct? Im sorry for the noob questions. My email address is (Michaelbezanis@gmail.com).If we could communicate further that would be awesome if I could bounce a few questions/ideas off you while completing my install. Thats if you dont mind helping a young apprentice😁.

Hey there. I'm brand new to this forum. If you don't mind, please don't take this discussion offline. I could be helpful to others, who like me, are still learning how to tune a DSP. Yesterday, I finally finished installing my Audio Control D.6.1200 and I'm work on tuning the unit today. It took a bit of searching, but I found some documentation on their website, that should be helpful. Here's the link, if anyone is interested.
