I build subwoofer enclosures as a small hobby but was recently was asked to build a enclosure for 4x 8 in. (Apocalypse AP-W81AC | 8" MidBass Speakers).

I don't know how to achieve the best performance with an enclosure for mids.

He did however give me dimensions to work with but I can't help but wonder if I can design a more efficient enclosure...?

10x50x6 the vehicle is a 97 GMC extended cab.

Can anyone help me ?

It depends on the use case. It seems like it's supposed to just be as loud as possible, in which case I would recommend using hornresp to design a ported enclosure with a horn in front of the cones.

The port size and tuning will mostly depend on the power used.
They have a low fs of 70Hz, which would be the lowest I'd port, but I don't believe they will handle 300W with that low a tuning. Safer bet would be 90-100Hz tuning and the front horn, to boost 150-400Hz.

The best way is to measure the Ts parameters of the speakers to get accurate results from hornresp and second would be to measure the frequency responce from the mids to see where you want the gain from the front horn to get a flatish FR, because I assume they will have a rising responce, which will couple well with the horn.

If you don't want to go through the trouble, just make a ported box or you could possibly use a ready made horn like the DS18 PRO-SDF8.
