Hi guys,

After a lot of reading and less desirable outcome of helix atm I’ve decided to give holmimpulse a try with the focusrite as explained in the catbug guide. Most of the gear should arrive somewhere next week. The only thing I don’t completely understand is the loopback cable and how to create one.

If I understand correctly, the mono y cable goes out of output left and one of the ends goes back into input 2 (loopback) will there be no issues going into a xlr input with a 6.35mm trs? The other end will go into the female 6.35mm to rca adapter and should be connected to the mono rca cable. Seeing that both ends are male should I use another adaptor like one of these:

Another question is: does it have to be a mono 6.35mm y cable. I’m asking this as a seem to only find stereo 6.35mm y cables.

Any of the plugs are easy to identify as mono or stereo. Mono plugs will have a single stripe, stereo will have two.

When you query the item you need, just be sure to query Stereo or Mono followed by the type of plug/cable/termination type you want. I found a number of them on the UK Amazon site.

thank you for the explanation! I found them on amazon uk as well now. Here in the EU nowhere to be found. In this case does it have to be mono to y mono? And will the female rca adapters work. So I’ll be using 2 adapters: female trs to male rca > female rca to female rca > mono rca cable.

Once you go mono...

From your post, it would appear you need a 6.5mm stereo to dual mono to accommodate a standard RCA connection.

Then dual 6.5mm to RCA:
