How do you tune-in an amp from the trunk?...

I've always had my amps mounted under the seats. But, I just bought a new car and I'm thinking of mounting the amp(s) in the trunk to expand my possibilities regarding size limitations.

But, how do you tune an amp that's in the trunk?... I can hear things better in the car, so tuning amps under the seats is pretty straight forward, since you're in the cabin.

I'm dumb-founded.:(

That's not as good as tuning it yourself. That's funny... :):worried::blush::D

Somebody should come-out with remote phase, gain, and frequency control from the amp.:)

It's not the same as being there. Lol! I can't be at two places at once.:D:laugh:

Is this seriously a thread topic? If you want make changes on the amp, and the amp is in the trunk, the only two options are to have a friend help you or make changes and get back in the car and listen (just as suggested above). That takes common sense, not a thread asking for help with common sense. If you want to make those adjustments from the front seat with the amp in the truck, buy a head unit that can do those functions (they are out there) or a processor that can do those function (also out there) and mount it under the seat, in the glove box, in the center console, etc.

I am not trying to sound like a dick, but words comes out that way when common sense is placed bluntly in front of you.

If you want to know which h/u or processors have phase, gain, and crossover funtions, please search before starting a new thread. The information is out there, that is how I know they exist, you just have to look for it.

Is this seriously a thread topic? .

That's what I was saying... If anyone knows me and my style here, i'm pretty tolerant of things like this...

This one takes the cake though... seriously, take your ass out of the seat and go adjust the thing...

I mean really, what sort of answer could one possibly look for in this situation.. I mean a noob question or something, ok... but this... :z:

I hate to say this, by I almost feel like I'm dumbing my own self down for answering this, but here it goes anyway.

You have THREE choices.

1. Buy a head unit with those controls like was mentioned above i.e. Pioneer 880/800, Alpine 9887, several different Eclipse decks, Clarion DRZ etc.

2. Set the amp on your lap while adjusting it from the front seat, then mount it in the trunk when you're done.

3. Get out of the car, go back to the trunk, adjust, get back in and listen. Repeat those steps until you get the desired results.

No,

tspence tuning tactic no. 10

You have your friend get in the trunk with the VBA and adjust things for you. You pay him by buying him lunch for being your remote control.

I rarely use amps that have on board 'tuning' ....when I do use amps with on board tuning ...I don't use it. Everything is done with external electronic x-overs. I just run extra long RCA's to the passenger compartment and 'tune' from the drivers seat ...then move the x-overs to their permanent position.
