Check the resistance at the terminals with a DMM. Just because there are no shorts in your wiring (that you can see), it does not mean there isn't actually a short.

 

i dont know how, god i hate when i run into problems, i spent all day running wires and getting this HU in and it never seems to go right, ugh

 

Well, the first step would be getting a digital multi meter, if you do not already have one. Should be pretty simple after that

You need one that can read ohms into the single digits since a problem or not would show a reading between the speaker nominal impedance and below. That one reads thousands of ohms (ie "K ohms").

 

You most likely have a speaker wire pinched somewhere but like everyone said check your impedence 1st. If you really do not have a multimeter or cannot get one if you have some other 4 ohm speakers laying around try connecting them and see what the amp does then. Then let us know...

 

My 300/4 did the same thing (twice!) When I sent it back to JL they sheet I got back the first time said it was a bad resistor on the board, the second time it happened I just sold it cheap.

Spending $20 on a digital multi meter would be a great investment

 

test by changing amp [ amp may be bad ]

 

I guess JL's Slash do have this problem(burnt components inside).... when used after a period of time.

 

my 300/4 has a cracked pre-amp board and it sets the thermal light off all the time. luckily i'm a jl dealer so i'll just get a new board put in for 75.

 

hmmm, impedance light is coming on even with no speaker wires hooked up, and no rcas hooked up, could it have to do with the power wire or ground?

 

No, that would probably cause the Power light to turn a different color.

 

In a word . . . it's junk

hope you didn't pay to much or are willin to pay some more to get it fixed.
