Hello,
Having a problem with updating the firmware on my Kenwood KRC-BT855u head unit. I followed the download and install from the Kenwood site USB instructions as accurately as possible, but the unit is now displaying "Device1 No File" when the USB is inserted, "Device1 Waiting" without. I used a previously formatted FAT32 USB stick on the front mount USB port (nothing in back), downloaded only the Device 1 & Device 2 files for group "H" (nothing else on the stick) and followed the initial process through the menu so that the update can start. The display eventually stopped at "Device1 No File" after the ...Wait, ...Reading sequence. The HU is now completely locked and cannot be turned off or reset without coming back to this stuck screen. I'm sure someone has run into this problem which advice can be given. My warranty is up and I'm seriously regretting ever trying to perform a somewhat straight forward firmware update process.:mad::confused:

I had an issue doing the same thing a few weeks ago. You have to be careful because the site says improper install can brick the radio. That being said, I went back and did one update at a time. Mine needed a system, application and dvd update. I put them all on the same usb drive and the radio didn’t like something. So I did them one at a time and the system seemed to freeze and I retried a couple of times and it finally went through. Just download each update one at a time and try it. It will go through. Also, I cleared everything else off the usb drive. Also don’t put the files in a folder on the drive.

Hi there guys.

:( I am facing the same problem on a KDC X7200DAB. The screen stopped at "NO FILE" screen. I guess I also did something wrong in the firmware procedure. I cannot shut down the unit even when the car is locked. I have to remove the detachable panel. Have you managed to find a solution for this ?
