I am looking at moving from a wifes old hair dryer up to a real mans heat gun.....I only used it to speed up the dring of my fiberglass projects but now I am wanting to get into vinyls.....and cover kicks and such rather than painting...so i need a good quality heat gun....do they make them where the tempeture is selectable? and what is the best....dewalt......and also what brand is everyone else using...I will probably get on fleabay and snag one off. ;)

get a cheapo they are really mostly the same thing, find one with the adjustable temp control if you feel you need it... i buy the cheapo's at harbor frieght and they always work great i never have had a problem with those. dont spend a lot on a heat gun imo

I also have a harbor frieght heat gun. It is the one with 2 temperatures. I've only used it for a little while but it has worked perfectly, even after dropping it a couple of times.

Did the HB one for $10. Not bad at all. Used it to scrape a ton of paint off the outside of my house, thing held up pretty well.

If you buy it, I would recommend letting it run for half an hour (don't hold it, leave it on the ground if you have an floor that will support it) just to make sure its not DOA. They have a habit of having **** that either works fine for years, or is dead within minutes.
