Passive Crossover Tweeter attenuation question

My passive crossovers have a +/- 3db tweeter attenuation switch on them, and I was wondering, if switched to the -3db position, does this effectively allow the tweeters to see only about half of the power available?

The fundamental assumption is that it takes about twice the power to increase sound levels by 3db. Based on this general principle, can you calculate backwards like I did above to estimate how much power a tweeter is getting with the attenuation switch flipped down 3db?
