Hello everyone, I recently bought a 2010 Honda Civic LX with 7,900 miles, so everything is completely stock and in "like new" conditions. I also have a 2021 Hyundai Sonata with the upgraded Bose audio system. I gave that car to my mom and bought this Honda for myself. I was so used to the amazing audio quality in the Hyundai, and now the stock audio in the Honda sounds horrible to me. I would like to upgrade the speakers on it, BUT, I am not really looking for a super beefy audio system or a subwoofer, just something to somewhat match the quality on my Hyundai. I would prefer not to use an amp, since I don't like that it takes up space, but if completely necessary, I will use one. I would be using the stock stereo for now, but when they become available again, I would purchase this receiver from BestBuy, Pioneer DMH-2660NEX (or something similar if something newer and better comes along).

Are there any suggestions for speakers and how to hook them up properly (tools, methods, etc.)? Price isn't really a big issue, but looking to spend under $500 for the speakers (and maybe amp if required)? Please let me know if you need any more information to be able to answer my question.

Thanks!

Since you’ll be using low power (HU or maybe a small amp), find speakers with higher sensitivity. JBL and infinity are often good choices.

Install will also be key, use deadening and rings to keep front and rear waves separate.

A dsp can help any setup sound much better, but in the case of a basic civic, I’d prob start with the speakers (and HU/amp) before moving to a dsp.

Plus a dsp requires you use an amp, so may as well start with that as an earlier step and see how much better it gets before even needing to spend on a dsp.

There are some mini and micro amps that do around 50+rms per channel, which could be a good place to start.

Thank you for the reply.

When I was searching for information, I did see these speakers from JBL, they are the JBL GTO629 for $86.99 USD a pair.
I also saw these JL Audio C2-650X for $279.99 USD a pair.

Would either of those work? Would one be better than the other? Are there better options?

Thanks again!
