I currently have Alpine type r 6x9s in my front door, and 6.5 coaxils in the back door, with and alpine pdx f6 powering those, and I have a alpine pdx 1000.1 powering two old orion 12" subs.
The subs are old, muddy, and not responsive and a little too boomy for me.
I want to replace them with something better, something with a good mix of spl/sql.
I currently have this box,
Total Air Volume: 1.32 cu.ft.
Cut Out Diameter: 11 1/8"
Mounting Depth: 5 1/4"
But I was thinking it might be a good idea to get rid of it and just run a single 10" sub with a fox acoustics box. SINGLE 10" VENTED SUB ENCLOSURE.
INTERNAL AIR VOLUME: 1.25 CUBIC FEET
VENTED: YES
TUNE FREQUENCY: 36 hz
MOUNTING DEPTH: 6.25" with a magnet diameter of 6.5 inches or less
BAFFLE TO FLOOR CLEARANCE: 1.75"
SPEAKER HOLE SIZE: 9.125"
My budget is pretty open, I don't mind buying used or hunting for a better deal. Ideally I would like it to be under $500 but I can go higher, I just would like to do it right the first time.
So what 2 12"s would work good with what I have or would a 10" be better? If so which one?
