Switch to turn subwoofer amp on and off

I'm in the process of reworking the system in my work van and would like to be able to turn the subwoofer and amp on and off with a switch when I want less bass, when listening to podcasts etc, or on to annoy and embarrass my kids.

Is it as simple as using a SPST switch on the turn on wire for the sub amp?

Have to dig for the specs but from memory running a JBL CX1200 12" sub with a JBL Club 704, pioneer head unit, 2 jbl 6x9 rear and 2 6" JLB front door speakers with tweeters and crossovers running off a JBL 5501 amp.

yeah, that should work. most switches are relatively low current, so i'd put the switch on your remote turn-on/blue wire instead of the power wire.

I did it once, years ago. Used a simple clean looking rocker switch.

I did it with my whole system. Cold days it makes start up way easier. Never thought I'd use it as much as I do. Simple rocker is the way to go.

You can switch the remote turn-on wire, or use a switch and relay. I do the latter, for 2 sub amps.
