I have a taramps 400x4 powering my mids in my Jetta and I can't tune out this high shrieking I get when the volume is turned up. Tried using a few different crossover settings in my dsp but couldn't really get it sounding right without it being muffled. Hooked up an alpine amp to the same speakers and theres no shrieking at high volumes. Made sure everything had good grounds. So my question is are the cheap Brazilian amps only good for bass? I am very far from an audiophile so didn't think cheap amp sound quality would be that bad.

Successfully used this same amp in a Kia with no "shrieking" ... it certainly won't keep up with my JL 300/2 in sound quality or noise floor but nothing really ugly and the owner was more than pleased at the value. You might have an internal component starting to fail or a filter that's leaking the shrieking.
