So I recently purchased a 23’ VW Tiguan and I plan on building a full system and retain the factory electronics. I’ll be adding a Helix DSP Pro MK2 w/director for signal to my amps. I’m wondering what’s the standard these days? Use the high level input from the factory system to use the Apple CarPlay, Nav and XM then use a lightning digital connection on the helix for better quality? Is there any way to pull a digital signal from the factory? I could use my director for volume control. I know in the glove box there’s a spot to add a cd changer (I’ve been told it’s $1000) and I remember a YouTube vid of a European company pulling a digital signal… anyone know how?

I'm pretty sure this will work.
But I'd recommend reaching-out to @mobridge to see if they have a similar unit with just a Toslink output (you don't need RCA output).

The unit that he refers to in the video is this:

It's basically the same as the Mobridge unit I mentioned in my above post. You can see it in one of my old build logs (I've used a few of them over the years):

Thank you. So it also helps retain all functions then so when my phone rings it will interrupt music but if I hook in using the usb cable it will remain lossless and digital all the way to the back? Only thing that wouldn't work is volume controls?
Yes. It retains all factory functions.

The Zen-V would have an optical Toslink output to your DSP. I assume your phone would use a mini USB.
However, I don't think the DSP-Pro MkII has the ability to run two separate digital inputs (I may be wrong).

The Zen-V would also be a digital run all the way through the DSP. It outputs at: 24 Bit / 48 kHz.
The DSP-PRO Mk-II has an internal resolution of: 32 Bit / 96 kHz.
You 'might' get better resolution by going direct from your phone (depending on your phones capabilities)... but I doubt you'd hear a difference.

You should reach out to Nav-TV.
The link that I sent you includes both the Zen-V unit as well as an OBD programming tool.

I suspect you'll need the OBD tool to convert the vehicle to MOST optical output.
It works moronically easy... but I'd recommend you call Nav-TV to confirm if you need it or not.

If you don't need it, then you can save yourself $320.00 and just get the Zen-V.
