Finding whole albums in 24 bit, FLAC, etc on HDtracks etc but having trouble hunting down individual tracks to download.

I'd like to put together a lossless compilation for showing off my system. On Android (attached with a plug).

Cheers!

Hmm, maybe (probably) I'm dumb. I'm seeing Artists, Albums, Labels only on the Qobuz search options.

I've been going through all sites using "Money" as the sample query. Striking out so far.

Just randomly picked that as it was the first song on my prospective compilation list.

I remember the trolls on Limewire that would rename the tracks of some junk music to the latest disc you were searching for, and you only found out hours later. The OG Rick Rolls.

The first job I had with "high-speed" interenet we would all download music while at work, it was all fun and games until some group came to visit one day with some lawyers. Luckly stuff was pretty basic back then and they couldn't tell who it was, but everyone knew. haha

I didn’t grow up with computers. Had never used one during the 90s. Missed Napster because no computers. No computer classes in high school. Didn’t get my first one until I found out you could grab music for free. I taught myself the basics and the internet. Downloading over dial up sucked. I was the first on my block to get cable broadband just to grab music. These days I only know enough to get misled in trouble. Built an unraid box to act as a Plex server just to pickup music, movies and tv shows that fall off the back of the truck. Next on my list a is a fan less nuc for a roon server in an hdplex enclosure.

Nicotine+ This. A big problem you will find with anything over CD quality is that a lot of the music is just being up-converted while not being originally recorded in the higher format.

Linn Records ( famous for Linn LP12 turntables ) is another place to buy outright studio master HD tracks. Not so much in the way of mainstream artists though. Brought a few from them, mainly classical music.

To answer the OP's question, Bandcamp allows purchase of individual tracks and the files can be dowloaded in FLAC, as well as other compressed formats. However it seems like most big-name artsts/labels are not available there, so some folks may find the selection lacking. On the downside, Bit depth and sample rate varies by artist/album and is not described in the FLAC download option beforehand. So you get what you get, often it's 16-bit/44.1khz but sometimes higher (one recent purchase was 24-bit/96khz). On the positive side, I think the price remains the same regardless of file type/quality. You can go back into your purchases and re-download a different file type after the initial purchase.

7digital 7digital Canada | High-quality Digital Music Downloads has access to more mainstream artists and also allows individual track purchases. Hi-res FLAC options also vary by artist/album, but at least those options are described in the selection optons. Price increases with bit depth/sample rate, but it's still waaaay more reasonable than HDtracks!

Slightly OT, but I still prefer to have complete ownership of my own music files, independent from any specific service. I purchase from Bandcamp whenever possible, as they try to keep their fees reasonable and pass more on to the artists. It also allows you to pay extra if you want, to further support an artist (I always try to throw in an extra couple of bucks). But I used to tour and record with a few bands and still have many musician friends, so this matters to me. Streaming doesn't pay the average artist a whole lot. I recently started trying Tidal for music exploration, but if I find something I really like, I'll still go and purchase it separately for my own library. That's just my own personal preference though, I'm also trying to atone for my Napster/Limewire youth lol.

Bought a short list from Qobuz. Sound is terrific, I'll go back for a few more after I wear these tracks out. Didn't sign up for any service.

Also using Amazon Music with higher resolution selected. Not bad really. Though interface is like a poorly laid out click bait commercial. Sound quality is worlds better than the slickly laid out Pandora so it's mostly worth the interface aggravation.

OK...totally new hear. W|HAT do I need of r a storage device, how many GB to hold 550-600 complete albums Roughly 5200 songs) of lossless music files. How could I convert my collection to lossless files and then transfer them to a storage device to be played by my high end (VERY HIG END) home & car stereo systems??? I have a great ear for music and also MUST guarantee myself that my stereos are loud enough (while sounding pristine!) to NEVER hear even .010 seconds worth of (C)rap, hip-hop, techno, indistrial, rave etc. etc. No REAL instruments that require TALENT to play = not music. LOL
