Android 14.... Bit perfect USB audio???

Hey there buddies..😃.. I was scavengering through the upcoming Android 14 documentation cuz some one mentioned an update on the USB audio. I found this and I wanted to get y'alls take on this. Maybe some one smarter than I can decipher it better. But from what I'm reading is that it will be possible.

I'll quote a section...

"If the mixer behavior uses BIT_PERFECT mode, the system sends the audio content without modification through the audio framework, HAL and optionally digital signal processor (DSP), from the API down to the USB device. The BIT_PERFECT mode supports encoded formats, such as MQA or DSD, on which any volume scaling or mixing can destroy the meaning of the data."

I know most are pro Iphone here, but I wouldn't be caught dead with one. 😃 I got my own reasons and audio has nothing to do with it.

I just want one day to be lifted from this android audio restriction and use my phone as the best audio source. If this is true I'll be able to rock out with my 🤔 ..... galaxy out!!

Thanx!!

Looks like when you get android 14, you'll get the bit perfect mode but whatever music player you use on the device needs to also support the mode. Other than that, I don't know nuffin.

I don't even bother with this stuff though. Unless I'm going to an event or something, I'm running bluetooth with the windows open and the system has to fight wind noise and the hemi.

I wonder when AT&T will release v14? I also wonder what the code name is for the new version.

It actually Upside Down Cake. Version 15 is Vanellia Ice Cream. They alway so some sort of sweet.

I am running A14 now, but have used A13 for a long time and was always USB to Helix "Bit Perfect", however you have to have the right player as has been mentioned. I use HiBy and it supports this and is Free!

Won't a Topping D10 display what the signal quality is?

Well I doubt this will make a difference with the glorified equalizer in my Malibu, but it sure is nice to see Google putting forth the effort. It may be useful when I build the Outlander since that DSP will have optical input. I'm with you, I despise IOS for reasons other than audio, and after my experience with the P7P I'll only be using Qualcomm SoCs for the foreseeable future.

I just got the 23 ultra (was gonna wait for the 24, but soon as a phone starts giving me battery issues it has to go) but I'm still rocking v13 and UI 5. I did get this yesterday

But it's still UI 5 🤨
Not sure if it's too late or if you just want to wait, but if you go to the Samsung Members App there was a link to sign up for the Beta and you will download it instantly. It's on Beta 8 since they started (and the first couple were buggy!) But I believe this is the last one and the next release will be the stable official build.

I thought updates for Samsung phones had to be made available by the carrier and not Samsung?

One UI 6.0
One UI 6.0 is what Samsung call their interface that runs on top of Android. Which in the case of Android 14, as mentioned above is Upside Down Cake.

I thought updates for Samsung phones had to be made available by the carrier and not Samsung?
Yes and no. I have T-Mobile but a phone bought direct from Samsung. If I had bought my phone from T-Mobile then I would have to wait for T-Mobile to test and add their crap on top of Android + Samsung One UI before they pushed it out to end users.

Since my phone is a non carrier version, I get updates direct from Samsung.

You can load custom ROM's without either the carrier, or even Samsung stuff, essentially loading basic Android directly onto a carrier locked phone. But, that's becoming increasingly harder to do so which is a bit of a shame. Used to flash all my phones with custom ROM's that had no carrier or manufacturer stuff on them, but the last couple phones I have had you had to basically run both the software that came with the phone and then a 2nd OS that you picked upon boot.

This is one reason why I choose Google Pixel phones! I easily root, then flash monthly when the updates are posted. All factory images and easily updated monthly. Root is a bonus.

Hey, I am a Samsung user. What exactly am I looking for in the members app?
If you scroll thru the banners when you open the app, one of them should be for the ONE UI Beta Program. I'm not sure which models its available for. I know the newest S23 series (Reg, +, and Ultra) but not sure about any of the others (A series, Fold, Flip, etc... )

That's weird. I love our regular Pixel 6's. My wife and I have them and no issues with either. I never have to charge it during the day. Must be a pro thing or bad luck.

Alot of the 6pros were fine but they were also replacing them left and right under warranty. I should've had mine swapped. My flash has never worked since day one nor the flashlight function.

I don't really care about that but the screen has been replaced 3x now which considering I went 12years before that not breaking the screen I question it's durability.

But like i said I'm still using the phone so it's not all bad least after the 30th update

We just replaced my wife's pixel 3 with the 8 Pro. The first thing I noticed was how nice the screen was. The refresh rate is so much higher than the pixel 3 its insane. I'll get one for myself in a few months. I had debated on just keeping my work iPhone but after seeing hers, I want one for myself haha.
