BMW M3 2024 Need to upgrade speakers

Hello,

Hoping somebody can help me. I'm looking at upgrading my factory speakers in my M3. I have already upgraded the factory amp to the Bimmertech Alpha 1 which made a huge difference and has DSP configured for the g80 M3.

I'm going to upgrade my front speakers only, as the rears are just fill. I'm thinking of using the Morel IP-BMW42, along with the matching center speakers. Then likely add a JL audio self powered sub as well.

Just wondering if anyone has gone this route. I see focal make a set that would fit in the doors but they are considerably more expensive... like more then double.

I'm open to other options.

thanks in advance.

Imo Morel makes the best BMW replacement solution out of every manufacturer.
We won them in my daughters Iasca/Emma Champion E90.

No JL powered sub will provide enough bass in a G80. Instead of spending the money twice, I suggest getting an Alpine R2 in a 10 or 12" with a small amplifier like a SD EvoX2 1000.1 for ease of install. Battery is located in the trunk & there's room for a small amplifier in the corner of the trunk on the passenger side under the plastic cover.

Morel and Focal both have different possibilities for BMWs.

Morel has the IP model, and the higher end IR model available for BMWs.
Focal has Plug-n-play models for BMWs, which are lower priced.
And they also have higher end models too.
Not sure which ones you are comparing.

I have the Focal IS 100 L installed as Front and Rear speakers in my X5.
They had to be tuned, because without tuning they will sound too bright.
But with the DSP (like what you have) they can be tuned to sound great.

I kept the factory Center... it used for the nav sound + phone calls (+blinker... not sure what it does).

As @rcm78 mentioned, I also feel that a good Woofer is a must.
The ones from the factory have their limitations. Especially if you are upgrading the door speakers.

I got the Match UP W8BMW-S Woofers installed... They are good.
But if I had to do it over again, I would probably go with the Helix, as @rcm78 suggested.

The Woofers, if tuned right, will give you pretty good bass.
But if it is not enough, later on you can add a Sub.
I ended up adding the Audison 10" Sub under the trunk floor.

If you can have someone make you adapters there are some Scan 12M in the classified section that are supposed to be very very good. I have not tried them but still very interested. The day I was ready to pull the trigger on them a set of Dyn 430 popped up here and I "splurged". As much as I very much enjoy the Dyns curiosity still gets me and I wonder if I might like the Scans better. I have been auditioning speakers for my home and have settled in on Sonus Faber which use Scan drivers customized to their spec. Might be worth trying them out.
