Hertz HT25 Tweeter Question

Hello all,

A few months ago I purchased a used set of Hertz HSK comps off Ebay and was planning on starting my install here and ran into something unexpected. It looks like the terminals are broken off both tweeters an there is wire soldered on with spade terminals on the other end (wire is about 8 in long).

I'm assuming I can just cut the wire and connect a longer run of speaker wire to it with some butt connectors, but wanted to make sure the connection on the tweeter looked ok or if I'm screwed here!!!! :(

Thx!

There is nothing wrong with soldering pigtails to the terminals, but it looks like whoever did it did a terrible job. It looks like they melted the plastic pretty good around the terminals, which implies that they didn't know what they were doing. As long as the connection is solid and they didn't heat up the rest of the tweeter too bad in the process, you'll be fine.

It's possible but I think that they've probably, or maybe, have taken them off for an install, to go through a hole or something like that and resoldered them. They've definitly been altered, cause you can see the housing on the side of the connection has been melted like there was too much heat applied. But the other thing is that from the factory, most of the time, they put a black silicone type stuff on the top of the connections. That's the way they are on mine adn it looks that way on what you just posted.

If nothing else give them a little power and see if they work.

Hello, don't worry, they're OK as shown on your pics.

The cable is obviously the original, too.

I suppose the double soldering pads are here to facilitate either mounting a second speaker in parallel, or soldering a passive filter... Anyway, they are double as you can see, and the factory cable is soldered to one only of them on each side.

BTW, after at lot of search, I finally found the specs sheet and response curve, here it is : :)

It's not even included in the box...
