I know I'm new here. I'll post pics sometime soon, I just wanted to get this out there before the holiday break so I have time to follow up if there is any interest. It is hard to put a price on these since they are so rare. I suppose if you remember these you'll agee that you don't see these too often. A quick Google image search didn't show anything. Anyway...

Never installed, these have been put in test enclosures on a couple of occasions over the years (a session on a Woofer Tester showed that the factory transposed a couple of the specs). The chrome/nickel/whatever push terminals have oxidized over time so they are no longer shiney. I haven't tried to polish them. It might be possible to replace them. Includes original box. I know I have the computer matched birth certificate but I didn't find it in the box when I inspected them.

I'd like $650 shipped CONUS. I would be willing to do a "Buy it Now" on eBay for $700 (shipping included) if anyone wants to use the MS Live discount (currently 25% I think).

I'm selling these because I joined the National Guard (Army) and I am reevaluating a lot of things in my life and trying to sell some stuff I will probably never use. I originally bought for use in a "special" project that never really came about. I have several of the standard Reference 10's that will satisfy my bass needs for years to come. I was always reluctant to install the Limiteds in my car for fear of anything happening to them, the standard 10's sound damn nice as well.

I have a similar user name on the PE forum (aarond) and I have been there for years. Also, "adaney" on eBay.

I might be interested in trading for a Soundstream Reference Class A 10.0 or maybe a Picasso and enough cash to cover the difference.

It'd be nice to see someone do something cool with these...

Thanks for looking,
Aaron

It's me again. Seems some people were kind of skeptical for some reason. I was hoping to get these pics up sooner but here they are... I tried to show the binding posts as much as possible. They are more discolored than "corroded", still fully functional. It looks like if you were determined you could get a phillips head bit on the back side if you wanted to swap them out. Regardless, I would think that all of these probably have discolored posts by now (if you could find them). Also, I'm having trouble finding the folder that I know I kept the birth certificate in.

Note the lack of wear on the mounting holes (I'd say they are non-existant except for the possibility of a couple of spots if you really wanted to find something.

I've had a few of PM's on these. I'll try to follow up on those again before the night is over. Don't be offended if you dont get one right away though.

FYI MS Live discount is currently 30%.

Later,
Aaron

Roger that Aaron"Z",
I wasn't too worried about it. I'm new here and no one asked anything of me that I wasn't planning on doing anyway. Skeptical or not the traffic brings the thread back ot the top, so why complain?

I contemplated doing a hostage style picture w/ my cat and a black Friday newspaper but the weekend was too hectic for that kind of stuff. The new cat isn't as cooperative as my old one anyway.

....BTTT

Later,

Sure wish I could afford the price of admission... I remember when we did a T-bird with 2 SS10r in AP... it was so nice...

Is there anything "special" that makes them "limited" besides the chrome parts on the basket? Were they designed for smaller boxes or anything that you know of..???

I love how they come as a pair, i'm assuming matched closely in specs, and the special packaging.. Looks like the "limited" lettering was cut so you could throw them under some vinyl for raised lettering... lol..

IMO the "limited" thing was more marketing and flash than anything. I hate to say it but it's probably the truth. I will also admit that the SS10's are still highly regarded SQ drivers, and the original design was one of the first that was optimized for vehicle use (we are talking way back when). .7 cubic feet sealed was a simple recipe for "Velvet Hammer" goodness.

These came out toward the end of the SS10R run before the "Exacts" (which were a cosmetically updated version of the SS10R's I believe, same specs IIRC).

The Limiteds are definitely cool but not really any different from the standard model. I'm not sure how many were made but you don't even see the things on eBay. I believe the suggested retail was $1200, but I didn't pay that much. They came out about the same time that birth certificates started coming with amps and I think they were an effort to capitalize on that trend. It was also cool to see specs for the actual drivers in hand. Things like the Woofer Tester were not around and individual driver testing was for ubergeeks. I still cannot find the BC for these but I know it is around. IIRC the specs were not really impressively close for a matched pair but if you model them individually on WinISD the plots are on top of each other. I've tested most of my half dozen standard 10R's that have more than likely been individually produced over several years. The individual specs vary quite a bit (or seemingly anyway) but when you plug them into a box calculator you see that a .7 cubic foot box equals a Qb of .7 just like it should.

Hope someone finds this stuff interesting. I don't know anyone personally that would. It's my hobby though...

Thanks,
Aaron
