Sub box for small pickup - down firing or not

I'm putting a 10" Sundown SD3 into a 1985 Toyota extended cab pickup and will be placing it behind the driver's seat. If you had the option would you build a down firing box for it or something more conventional? Why one over the other?

For me, majority of setups I've liked in trucks had down firing subs.

Downfiring will achieve a bump in output, caused by boundary loading.

downfire. unless you go for more cone area.

i just did a down fire in a guy 2013 f150. sounds really nice. i normally hate under truck seat boxes but this made me turn a new leaf.

I have had down firing subs in my trucks for years. It's definitely the way to go. Let's pretend it doesn't effect the sound. It does protect speaker without the need for grills that will get scuffed and dented anyway.
