At what point will a system shatter windows?

I’m wondering how much bass it would take to shatter a window in a vehicle. Specifically, I have a Jeep wrangler and worry a little about the windows in the hard top. Anyone have experience with this?

I was at a comp and the van was a 160db system. His windshield was coming loose and it crack during his run. He hit just over 158db.

I was doing 150+ out the trunk of my Maxima a long time ago. Had a hole in the rear deck to the cabin. After a couple years in which I was pushing it near max almost daily it started breaking the back glass loose from the car. Never cracked though.

I had a Blazer that hit 158.3 in the lanes on a term-lab and that would cause the windshield to visibly flex but still never cracked or broke any glass.

Difficult to say. Auto glass from different manufacturers is different quality too. Keep in mind that while the front and rear panels will likely 'POP" out at some point, they are less likely to ever shatter as they are a laminated sandwiched glass. THe sides on the other hand are tempered and if will shatter starting at a week point (teeny tiny chip or mar) or scratch and will break into hundreds of small innocuous pieces. So in general, the front and rear panels will likely never shatter and if and the sides do, it will depend on the integrity of the glass. Here is good article on the differences in the glass front to back, side to side.
