LOL!

Oh, trust me, I know. I've tuned a couple cars with them. They are a PITA. The one I have on the bench drove me nuts just to shut off the DSP. But, this really would be a 'hold me off' purchase to get me through until I have time to think straight. This whole alpine fiasco really blew up in my face. I may pursue something else in a couple months but I just want something that's reliable and simple for now.

Erin the authorized dealer here sells for $1100 plus tax. Not a huge break in price, but it is local and they stand behind the product. Being out of state I would think you'd pay no tax. If needed they will call me to ensure you are legit and you can pay by phone. I've done this for a few folks before.

Navigating through the P99 can be a PITA even for Pio users in general. The 880 is a primer for getting around in the menus. I even had a dealer call me the other day asking how to change from 3-way to 4-way active. Its not that difficult after you get some time behind the controls. An Eclipse, Clarion, Alpine... user can grab most decks and run through the set-up and tuning with ease since they are users of this line and have been for a long time. Its faster and easier for me to run through the settings with the remote now than leaning up to use the deck itself.

Don't you call me out you bastard!!! Haha, just kidding, and thanks a ton for the help. We were so busy that I didn't have time to be fumbling around with that thing for very long, so I thought I'd just make a call. Thanks again. I wanted one really bad, and still love it, but man I think I'm just going to stick with my P9 combo, much easier to use!!!

Hey Erin, shoot me a text and I'll see what I can get you one for. We need to order one for a custo and I can just order two if we come to an agreement...

I was just checking on one today for a friend. My installer/dealer can get a P99RS but it will take a few weeks and cost me $1125-1150. Not a great deal but will have full warranty etc. Throwing it out there!

Kinda on subject... Is the P99 menus a lot different from the P9? I actually thought it wasn't too bad to navigate the menus and tuning. That being said... It is the only high end unit I have ever owned. I have always wanted to try an Alpine but haven't been able to make the switch. Free bump for u.

You have a good eye. I didn't even notice that.

I too am looking for a P99 after Highly and I tried unsuccessfully to tune my car with the H701 combo I have.

Ok...back on topic!

Someone told me that a dealer in my area might sell these in the $900-$950 range. I don't believe it...but will check soon.

OK, how does the menu of the P99 differ from the P9? What is so difficult? Yeah, the P9 is a bear because thee is SO much control within such a small display. However, I got the gist of it without a user manual in about 15 minutes the first time I played with a P9 combo.

I've got a P9 combo in my truck right now and couldn't be happier. I find it to be a cake walk compared to the P99RS. Don't get me wrong, I love and would put a P99 in my car no problem, but I guess I got used to the P9 using the remote so fast and am so comfortable with it now. The P99 software looks and functions essentially the same as the P9, but it is just much more difficult to navigate with the knob on the right side of the radio. Now, I'm sure if I had one in my truck I'd be zipping through it within a week or two, but I don't think anything is going to get my P9 out of my dash.

Also, I haven't forgot or been ignoring anyone in regards to the P99's, I'm still waiting on some answers about them. So, I'm still working on it!!

I noticed you wanted the BT adapter for the P99. I have one and I'm having some issues with pushing my phonebook to the unit. That being said I was also stiffed on the mic from the buyer when I bought it. So the unit may have had issues with the phonebook when I got it. I've tried 3 different phones now with the same results. I can call using the phone itself and the BT takes over from there. Incoming calls are routed thru the BT with no issues and even announces the name of the caller. Just check the compatibility chart or call Pio tech support for an updated list of phones. Just a warning.
